"Whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God." St. Paul has great wisdom for us in this overcrowded, instantaneous world that we live in. Unlike the monk, who by choosing to live in the monastery, is able to get away from the noise and chaos of the world around him, we must wake up every morning and recommit to doing everything for the glory of God in this very loud and hectic world. I must admit, it is a struggle for me everyday to focus my energy on the good and to remind myself that as I learn more, I know less! God has to be my center, my focus and with Him I find my balance. God gives me the strength everyday to function in our media filled world. Everything I have ever wanted to know is right at my fingertips, literally through my smart phone and computer. It is in this instantaneous acquisition of facts that I find it harder and harder to make good and right decisions. I find that having "all" the facts makes doing "everything for the glory of God" a struggle. Too often I do not recognize the temptations of the world and how media/social networking influence my daily decisions. I don't believe that I am alone in my struggle. I believe our children are also in a constant battle of trying to sift through the facts to come to a good moral decision. My hope is that we journey together in this struggle and help each other to "do everything for the glory of God."
